Ora Kintz of Colfax Dies, Rites Tuesday
Colfax (Special) – Ora Kintz, former town marshal of Colfax, died Saturday in a Des Moines hospital following an illness. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Bumgardner Funeral Home.

Ora Kintz Died of Heart Attack Saturday Morning
Had Been Sick Only A Short Time; Was Released From Hospital Few Days Previous
Ora Kintz, 61, well known resident of Colfax, died suddenly Saturday morning at the home of a son in Des Moines, following a short illness of heart trouble.
A few weeks ago, Mr. Kintz, who was employed by the city, was injured in a mishap, and later suffered a heart attack. He was taken to the hospital in Des Moines. He seemed to be on the road to recovery and was released from the hospital to stay a few days with his son before returning home.
His sudden passing was a shock to his family and many friends.
Mr. Kintz was a coal miner by trade but also worked at other lines and for a number of years was City Night Marshal in Colfax.
James Ora Kintz was born March 24, 1891 to Commodore and Etta Kintz in Clear Creek township near Ira in Jasper county.
He was united in marriage on Jan. 25, 1909 to Margaret Almeta Houghton at Des Moines, Iowa. To this union was born thirteen children, Delmar, Earl, Chaney, Virgil, Joseph, Charles, Robert, Clyde and Phyllis. Four other children, Carl, Louise, Florence and Ora are now deceased. His wife also preceded him in death on July 19, 1931.
On January 26, 1935 he was then wed to Bessie Marie Butts. To this union one son was born, Paul David.
Working in coal mines in and around Jasper county all his life he has always been a good provider for his family and of good standing in the community. As a law enforcement officer he had an enviable record and the respect of all, even those he was called upon to bring to justice.
James Ora Kintz left this life of a heart ailment at his son’s home in Des Moines on the morning of Jan. 3, 1953 at the age of 61 years.
Besides his wife and children he is survived by 18 living grandchildren, one half brother, William Kintz of Colfax, nieces, nephews, cousins and many who knew and loved him.
Funeral services were held from the Bumgardner funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Rev. David L. Houghton of the Assembly of God church officiating.
Mrs. Coleen Houghton provided the music and Mrs. John Burnett and Mrs. Arthur Van Elsen were in charge of the flowers.
Pall bearers were John Burnett, Paul Jones, Mitchell Orlich, George S. Weririck, Theo Henning and Carl Janney.
Interment was in the Kintz cemetery.
