Helen Marie was born May 5, 1918, in Newton, to parents Rasmus Bru and Christine (Finkelsen) Bru, one of 10 children. She graduated from Newton High School and July 3, 1937, Helen married Chester Martin Hulin in Papillion, Neb. The two resided on the family farm near Gilman, where she and Chester raised crops, purebred Angus cattle and two sons, Charles Chester Hulin and Jon Craig Hulin. She enjoyed cooking and baking. It was always a great pleasure for the whole family to visit Grandma Helen’s and enjoy all the wonderful dishes, breads, cakes, pies and pastries she could make like no other.
She and Chester also loved to dance and would go dancing at least once a week for many years. They truly loved and enjoyed being together all of their lives and were a wonderful example to their family. Now they are rejoined in Heaven and we are sure they are dancing together through eternity.
Left to cherish Helen’s memory are grandchildren, Kim (Suzie) Hulin of Gilman, Laurie (Mike) Covert of Arizona, Kathy Hulin of Arizona, Kathy (Russ) Thomas of Oklahoma and Kristy (Larry) Jaynes of Oklahoma; 10 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and daughters-in-law, Betty Hulin and Marianne Huennekens.
Those preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Chester; sons, Charles and Jon; grandson, Frosty Hulin; and her special “daughter,” Dorothy.
