Elda Keeton, the boy who was accidentally shot near Kellogg by a playmate on the 26th ult., died on Tuesday of last week and was buried in Antle cemetery. He was 17 years old and was generally known in and about Kellogg. His untimely death should be a warming to boys who carry or tamper with firearms. After being shot the boy went home in the evening and went to bed without telling his parents that he had been injured. His pain and illness increased in the night so that he was compelled, at last, to call his mother, a physician was summoned, but he had been too long without surgical aid. An inquest was held on the body at which it was proved that the fatal shot was fired by William Braley, a boy about the same age as deceased, the son of George Braley, a farmer living near Kellogg. The verdict of the coroner’s jury has not yet been made public, but it is hoped and believed the evidence will exonerate young Braley of any criminal intent.
