GRINNELL—Marie White Altemeier, 82, of Grinnell, a former resident of rural Newburg, died Sunday, Feb. 19, at the Mayflower Home in Grinnell.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.

The Rev. Kenneth Wallace and the Rev. Keith Briggs will conduct services. Burial will be in the Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today.

Memorials to the Mayflower Home Human Needs Fund will be accepted.

Survivors are a son, Merle of Woodward; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harry White of Swan.

She was preceded in death by her husband Adolph, a son, Carl, a great-grandchild and a sister.

Mrs. Altemeier was a member of the Jasper County Historical Society, Jasper County Farm Bureau, Victor and Pomona Granges, was active in state and national Grange, was a former member of the Newburg Church of Christ and was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church.

She was the daughter of Elmer and Della Cole White.

She was married to Adolph Altemeier Jan. 1, 1931 in Grinnell.

Mrs. Altemeier, who had resided on a farm near Newburg for 55 years, moving to the Mayflower Home in 1986.
