LYNNVILLE — Gordon R. Northcutt, 80, of Lynnville died Wednesday May 11, 2005, in Oskaloosa.

Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Saturday at the Taintor Community Church with the Rev. David Pinkerton officiating. Burial will follow at the Stewart Cemetery near Taintor, where full military honors will be given by members of the Oskaloosa V.F.W. Post No. 2237 and the Harry L. Anderson American Legion Post No. 34.

Visiting hours begin at noon Friday at the Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening. A memorial fund has been established in his name.

The son of Clark E. Sr. and Susan (Hull) Northcutt, he was born May 3, 1925, in Taintor. He graduated from Lynnville High School in 1942 and served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He also served at Hiroshima, Japan, shortly after the atomic bomb had been dropped. He married Marilyn J. Hinmon on July 21, 1946, in Colfax. While working for the railroad, they lived briefly in Peoria, Ill., and in Oskaloosa for a few years before settling in the Lynnville area. He farmed and drove cream and egg routes for many years.

Mr. Northcutt was a member of the Oskaloosa Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2237 and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, deer and turkey hunting and four-wheeling.

He is survived by a daughter, Cyndie (Dennis) Hatten of Indianola; three sons, Teryl Kent (Linda) Northcutt of Hedrick, and Tim (Cindy) Northcutt and Kelly (Teresa) Northcutt, all of Lynnville; his longtime companion, Becky Krusemark of Oskaloosa; 12 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two sisters, Anna McDowell of New Sharon and Voyian Richards of Mondovi, Wis.; and his brother, Vernon (Bonnie) Northcutt and of New Sharon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four brothers, Robert, Lowell, Clark Jr. and Carl Northcutt; and a sister, Erlyne DeJong.
