Lois V. Lisk, 78, of Newton died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Community Heights Alliance Church Education Center, 1000 E. 12th St. S. in Newton, with the Rev. Syd McCrorey, assistant pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Slagel Cemetery in rural Newton.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton, where the family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials in her name will be accepted at the funeral home or at the church the day of the service.

The daughter of Joseph and Bernice Meredith Ponder, she was born March 13, 1926, in rural Newton. She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1945. She was a mailing clerk for Newton Manufacturing Company and retired in 1988.

Mrs. Lisk was an active member of the Community Heights Alliance Church, where she helped in the nursery. She also belonged to the 25 Club at Newton Manufacturing Company. She enjoyed traveling with her son Mike, enjoyed her five grandchildren and crocheting, making afghans and volunteering at her church. She was a lifelong resident of Newton.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Lisk and William "Allen" and Tracie Lisk, all of Newton; five grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Glen and Marian Ponder and Bill and Barbara Ponder, all of Newton, and Leo and Terri Ponder of Tennessee; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda and Carl Wehner of Cedar Falls, Ruth and John Schuck of Omaha, Neb., and Bonnie Ellis of New Sharon; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Dennis.
