Mrs. Alice Bishop Dies At Home
(July 1, 1958)

Alice Bishop, 95, died Monday night in her home at Des Moines. She was born January 11, 1863 in Cedar County near Tipton, to John and Mary Jane Munn. She came to Newton area by covered wagon.

She was educated in Jasper County Schools. Mrs. Bishop married Delbert Bishop, Newton, who preceded her in death in 1948, and moved to Des Moines about 60 years ago. She had lived there ever since.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Henry Damman, Newton; two grandchildren, George F. Damman, Newton, and Mrs. Robert J. Harris, Des Moines; four great grandchildren; one great grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Knight, Groom, Tx.; and a brother, Grant Munn, St. Louis, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at the Johnson Funeral Home, Thursday, 2 p.m. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Bishop was a member of the University Christian Church in Des Moines.
