Ona L. Henning, 77, of Newton died Monday, May 9, 2005, at her home in Newton.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Merle Smith, chaplain of Skiff Medical Center, officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in her name and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Martin and Nellie (Berglund) Hoffmaster, she was born Oct. 22, 1927, in Newton. She graduated from Newton Senior High School. On March 1, 1963, she married Albert D. "Skip" Henning. She worked in the factory of the Maytag Company for 23 years and retired in 1989. She enjoyed her tea cup poodles and also enjoyed traveling, playing bingo and going to Meskwaki Bingo-Casino.

Survivors include a son, Danny (Darci) Henning in Newton; three daughters, Frankie Beck, Kelly (Scott) Penning and Roberta (Dave) Oberhart, all of Newton; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Johnny Neal and James Neal; and a brother, Kenneth Hoffmaster.
