Robert Bollhoefer, 75, of Melbourne, formerly of Jasper County, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2005, at his home.

Services will be held at: 1:30 P.M., on Thursday, February 3, 2005, at St. John United Church of Christ in Melbourne. Burial will follow services in the Restland Cemetery in Baxter.

Visitation times are: Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the St John United Church of Christ in Melbourne where the family will be present from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be directed to the family in Robert’s name.

Robert Bollhoefer was born on August 18, 1929 in Jasper County, Iowa the son of Ervin and Meta (Goeke) Bollhoefer. Robert attended school at the Baxter High School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1951-1953. Robert farmed and worked at Parsons in Newton and Fisher Control in Marshalltown. Robert’s first marriage was to Sally Gearhart and later was united in marriage with Joyce Hamler on January 6, 1975 in Van Cleve, Iowa. He enjoyed yard work, bird watching and loved spending time with his family. Robert was a member of the V.F.W. Harry C. Harter post # 839, Rhodes American Legion, the U.A.W. #893 and the St. John United Church of Christ in Melbourne.

Robert is survived by his wife: Joyce Bollhoefer of Melbourne, his son, Mikeal (Linda) Bollhoefer of Newton; his daughter, Julie (Dan) Gudith of Laurel; his son: Chris (Karen) Bollhoefer of Newton; his daughter: Roxana (Jim) West of Marshalltown, his daughter: Peggy Grady of Melbourne; 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, his three sisters: Marjorie Herbold of Newton, Darlene Orr of Melbourne and Carolyn Bollhoefer of Minnetonka, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepson: Rollie Grady.
