MITCHELLVILLE -- Mildred Luella Barrow, 84, of Mitchellville, formerly of Newton, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at Mitchell Village in Mitchellville.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Doug Raymond, pastor of Rising Sun Church of Christ in Rising Sun, officiating. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held Wednesday after 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials will be accepted in her name.

The daughter of Edgar Bascum Jones and Luella Irene Downs, she was born Jan. 8, 1920, in Mitchellville. She attended Mitchellville schools. On March 14, 1938, she married Hilbert Alphus Barrow in Mitchellville. She was a homemaker, a member of Newton Moose Lodge Auxiliary, Rising Sun Church of Christ and also attended Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton. She enjoyed cooking. She was a resident of Newton from 1963 until 1996. She lived in Mitchellville in her early years and moved to Altoona in 1996.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Donna Barrow of Altoona and Allen and Lauretta Barrow of Pillager, Minn.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four brothers, C. Ray Jones, Blaine Jones and Robert Jones, all of Newton, and Oren Jones of Colfax.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, William Jones; and a sister, Mary E. Bishop.
