OAKLAND ACRES — Ron A. Allen, 58, of Oakland Acres, formerly of Newton, died Sunday, April 3, 2005, east of Brooklyn.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Daryl Pals of Shell Rock officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Unionville Cemetery in Unionville.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Memorials to the March of Dimes may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Archibald and Cecelia (Kessler) Allen, he was born Feb. 24, 1947, in San Francisco, Calif. He served in the Merchant Marines from 1963 to 1966. On Oct. 24, 1992, he married Hope Stocker in Newton. He worked as a boilermaker for 30 years. He was a member of Boilermakers Local 83 of Kansa City, Mo., and Harley Owners Group. He enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycles. He lived in Newton from 1986 until 2003, when he moved to Oakland Acres.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ron E. Allen of LeMars and Wayne Schroeder of Ashby, Mass.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dorathy and Ron De Reus of Boone and Anneliese and Clint Janssen of Osceola; six grandchildren; and a brother, Gary L. Allen of Grinnell.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandmother, Dorathy Wilkinson.
