PRAIRIE CITY -- Duane Arie Roozeboom, 47, of Prairie City died of melanoma skin cancer on Thursday, Jan. 22, at Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Berean Assembly of God Church in Pleasant Hill. Burial will be at Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Visitation will begin on Sunday, after noon at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City where the family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Duane Arie Roozeboom Memorial Fund.

The son of Arie H. and Evelena (Van Gorp) Roozeboom, he was born Jan. 5, 1957, in Oskaloosa. He attended school in Prairie City. On May 29, 1982, he married Ginna Duffy in Des Moines. He worked at Firestone in Des Moines for 20 years and left work in October 2003 for medical reasons. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union, Local No. 310. He enjoyed working on his Harley Davidson motorcycle, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Ginna, of Prairie City; a daughter, Carrie Roozeboom of Des Monies; a step-son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Randi Burk of Des Moines; his mother Evelena of Pella; 11 grandchildren; three sisters, Barb and Gary Renaud of Pella, Marcia and Dennis Vande Lune of Prairie City and Kathy and Rich Roose of Pella; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ron and Patty of Runnels and Steve and Bev of Pella; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and a great-niece.

Funeral services for Duane Arie Roozeboom, 47, of Prairie City, who died Jan. 22, were held, Jan. 26, at Berean Assembly of God Church in Pleasant Hill.

Duane was born on January 5, 1957 in Oskaloosa, Iowa the son of Arie H. & Evelena (Van Gorp) Roozeboom. He attended school in Prairie City. On May 29, 1982 he was united in marriage to Ginna Duffy in Des Moines.

Duane worked at Firestone in Des Moines for 20 years leaving work in October of 2003 for medical reasons.

Duane is survived by his wife Ginna of Prairie City; a daughter Carrie Roozeboom of Des Moines; a step son, Jim Burk and his wife Randi of Des Moines; his mother Evelena of Pella and 11 grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Barb Renaud and her husband Gary of Pella, Marcia Vande Lune and her husband Dennis of Prairie City and Kathy Roose and her husband Rich of Pella; two brothers, Ron and his wife Patty of Runnels and Steve and his wife Bev of Pella

He was preceded in death by his father in 1991 and a great niece, Zoe Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Duane Arie Roozeboom Memorial Fund.
