GRINNELL -- Roger Haines, 57, of Grinnell, formerly of Newton, died Monday, Feb. 23, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with the Rev. Troy Stein of the Grinnell First Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Roger Haines Memorial Fund.

The son of Ralph and Dorothy (Lemke) Haines, he was born March 18, 1946, in Grinnell. He was raised in the Grinnell and Newton areas and attended school in both the Grinnell and Newton school districts. On July 31, 1965, he married Patricia Mae Blagden in Grinnell. The couple made their home in the Grinnell area prior to moving to Montour in 1968 and returned to Grinnell in 1980. He was employed for 28 years at Fisher Control in Marshalltown and retired in 1993. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local #893.

Survivors include his wife; his mother of Grinnell; three daughters, Dee Dee Griggs of Grinnell and Tricia and Maggie Haines, both of Marshalltown; one brother, Ralph Haines of Toledo; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father; a twin brother, Roy; and two sisters, Peggy and Linda Haines.
