BAXTER -- Hilda C. Deppe, 99, of Baxter died Sunday, Jan. 4, at Baxter Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bethany United Church of Christ in Baxter. A private family burial at the Bethany Cemetery in Baxter will follow services.

Friends may call today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter where the family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in her name to Max and Eileen Gauch.

The daughter of William and Caroline (Waterman) Deppe, she was born Sept. 4, 1904, in rural Baxter. She was baptized Dec. 26, 1904, at Bethany Church in Baxter, received her religious education under the Rev. Paul Treager and was confirmed June 9, 1919. She was a graduate of Iowa Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. She lived on the family farm with her brother following the death of her parents. They moved to Baxter in 1979. She was a lifelong member of Bethany United Church of Christ, where she was an active member of Women's Fellowship. She served as a secretary and treasurer of the church and taught Sunday School for many years. She also was a member of the Ever Ready Club.

She is survived by her close friends, Max and Eileen Gauch,and their families and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Raymond.
