PELLA -- Jennie Van Veen, 83, of Pella, formerly of Prairie City, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Pella Regional Health Center -- Long Term Care Unit in Pella.

Funeral services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella.

Memorials will be accepted to Bethel Rescue Mission, 1310 6th Avenue, Des Moines 50134.

The daughter of Herman and Gertrude (Loverink) Van Veen, she was born Dec. 23, 1919, in Peoria. She grew up on a farm north of Pella. She attended country schools northeast of Pella, in Prairie City and in Minnesota, completing eighth grade. She was a homemaker and cared for her parents as they advanced in age. She enjoyed her "coffee time" and spending time with her dog. She was a member of the Third Reformed Church and Ruth Circle.

Survivors include two brothers, John Van Veen of Monroe and Garrit Van Veen of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
