MUSCATINE - Cleo M. Hoover, 71, of Muscatine, formerly of Newton, died of cancer Saturday, Jan. 11, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home in Muscatine with the Rev. Cindy Boyer of The Salvation Army officiating. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials will be accepted to the Cleo Hoover Memorial Fund.

The daughter of Van Mackey and Thelma Plumb, she was born July 27, 1931, in Mingo. On Aug. 14, 1948, she married Don Hoover Sr. in Newton. She was a homemaker and a member of The Salvation Army.

Survivors include her husband; four sons, Don Hoover Jr. of Mattoon, Ill., Richard Charles Hoover of Maquoketa, Robert Allen Hoover and James Douglas Hoover, both of Muscatine; one daughter, Linda Sue Hoover of Muscatine; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, Larry Plumb, Bill Plumb and Jim Plumb, all of Newton and Doug Plumb of Reasnor; and a sister, Wilda Nelson of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
