OGDEN - Hazel (Tabor) Gibbs, 94, of Ogden, formerly of Jasper County, died of upper respiratory complications Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the Ogden Manor in Ogden.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone with the Rev. Jessica Johnston officiating. Burial will be at Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone. Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Boone is handling arrangements.

Friends may call at the funeral home today where the family will be available from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the First United Methodist Church Music Fund, Adult Choir or the Ogden Manor Aviary Fund.

The daughter of Samuel B. and Pearl (Curry) Tabor, she was born Oct. 22, 1908, near Prairie City. She was a graduate of Newton Senior High School. She was secretary to the superintendent of B.C. Berg of the Newton School district. On Nov. 7, 1929, she married Roy E. Gibbs in Newton. The couple moved to Boone in 1929, where she was a homemaker and served as church secretary for the Central Christian Church in Boone for 20 years prior to her retirement on June 1, 1973.

Mrs. Gibbs was a 50-year member of the First United Methodist Church, past president of the Page School PTA, served as a Cub Scout den mother and a Lioness. She enjoyed spending vacations at their cabin, in northern Minnesota.

Survivors include a daughter, Rosalie Gibbs, of Tijeras, N.M.; two sons. David and Barb Gibbs of Boone and Larry and Carol Gibbs of Outing, Minn.; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, a sister, Marjorie Raaberg of San Diego, Calif.; and one brother, Wayne Tabor of Louisville, Ky.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters.
