Bernice Bell, daughter of Ed and Dora Fleming, was born in Jasper county Iowa, February 23, 1910, and after an illness of but two short weeks departed this life in Des Moines, Iowa, on June 4, 1935, aged 25 years, 3 months and 11 days. Early in life she accepted the Lord Jesus as her Saviour and at the age of sixteen acknowledged this faith by affiliating with the Christian church of Runnells, Iowa. Her faith was one of simple belief and perfect assurance.
Bernice attended the Runnells high school where she was graduated with honors in the class of ’27. After graduation she attended 4C’s college in Des Moines and later did office work for the C.I.T. corporation.
On April 30, 1932, Bernice was united in marriage to Wallace Bell of Orient, Iowa. To this union was born a daughter who preceded the mother in death by seven days. She was a loving daughter and sister; a devoted wife. She possessed a cheery disposition and did much to lighten the cares and burdens of others. Others first, herself afterwards, was a rule she lived. Wherever she went she spread sunshine and cheer.
She left to mourn her passing besides her husband and parents are five brothers, Everett of Spring Hill, Russell of Newton, Frank of Renneby, Minnesota, Herbert and Lester of Runnells; two sisters, Mrs. G. V. Lyon of Newton and Mrs. A. K. Miller of Adelphi. Surviving also are a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and a myriad of friends.
