DES MOINES -- Carol Noel Burton, 96, of Des Moines, formerly of Newton died of heart failure Thursday, Dec. 11, at Heather Manor Health Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Newton with Pastors Stephen and Tiaré Mathison-Bowie officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery. Memorials will be accepted in her name or to Progress Industries in Newton.

The daughter of George P. and Helen (Eby) Hundling, she was born Dec. 20, 1906, in Hull. She graduated from Newton Senior High School and attended Des Moines School of Arts. On Aug. 4, 1936, she married A. Eugene Burton in Newton. She was a homemaker and worked at Capital Theater in Newton. She enjoyed music.
Survivors include a son, Allden Noel Burton of Newton and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lloyd Hundling and D.D. Hundling; her husband; and a sister, Lois Stanton.
