Blackwood Rites Are Held Today
Funeral services for John A. Blackwood, who died Wednesday morning, were held this afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the Morgan Funeral home, in charge of Rev. Paul Becker.
Mrs. E. C. Smith and Mrs. C. C. Daly sang two duets, “Rock of Ages” and “What a Friend We have in Jesus” accompanied by Mrs. Paul Becker.
Burial was made at Mt. Zion cemetery. The pallbearers, all nephews of Mr. Blackwood, were Oscar Wheatcraft, Loren Murphy, Earl, Roy, Walter and Arthur Blackwood.
Out of town attendants included: Miss Latitia Blackwood and her adopted daughters, Miss Helen Blackwood and Miss Edna Wickham, of Nevada, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Marmon and Crate Marmon of Monroe, Earl Blackwood of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Will Lacey, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Hanlon and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Smith, all of Des Moines.
