Monroe Items – Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Monroe Baptist Church for Jake De Hoedt, 79, who passed away Monday afternoon Nov. 21 at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.
Mr. De Hoedt who has been a resident of Monroe for many years formerly lived in the Otley community.

Otley News – Mr. Jake Den Hoedt, who died at his home in Monroe, was buried at the side of his wife in the Monroe Cemetery. Jake has lived on the farm place of Mr. Mowens near the Newton Coal Company and he also lived on the farm where Gerrit Klyn lives near Otley and lived in Otley. He was a coal miner and also farmer. The latter years of his life he lived in Monroe.
