Monroe News – Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for Mrs. John Fennema, 74, who passed away at her home on Tuesday, June 15.

Mrs. John Fennema, 74 years of age, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 15th at the Fennema home in Monroe after an illness of several months in duration.
Wilhelmina DeJong, daughter of George C. DeJong and Catalina DeJong, was born in Otley, Iowa on the 22nd of April 1869. On April the 12th, 1888 she married John Fennema and to this union nine children were born, three of whom have passed on. She is survived by her husband, John Fennema, who is himself in poor health, and by six children, namely: Mrs. Margaret DeWit of Pella, Mrs. Lena Nolin, Monroe, Iowa; Mrs. Jennie Van Houwelingen of Monroe; Miss Alice Fennema of Mason City, Iowa; Mrs. Trix Dalrymple of Arkansas City, Kansas and Mrs. Besse Simons of Los Angeles, California.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, June 19th, at 2;00 o’clock at the Crumpacker Funeral Home in Monroe; Reverend George Pennington, pastor of the Monroe Methodist Church in charge; Rev. Clyde Carter, pastor of Ashbury Church, Des Moines, a grandson of the deceased assisted. Interment was in Monroe Cemetery.
