N. F. Honnold, Former Resident, Dies in Indiana
Funeral services for Nathan (Nate) Franklin Honnold, 90, of Union City, Ind., a former resident of Monroe and Newton, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Toland funeral home.
The Rev. Willis E. Grant of Emerson, Iowa, and the Rev. John M. Nolin of Mitchellville, nephews of Mr. Honnold, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Monroe cemetery.
Mr. Honnold died Sunday at his home in Union City.
Mr. Honnold is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Michael (Cleo) Horan of Union City, with whom he made his home; and a sister, Mrs. W. M. Shaw of Newton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Honnold was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a brother and a sister.
The son of Jesse and Delilah Ann Honnold, he was born May 18, 1870 on a farm east of Monroe.
He was married June 25, 1890 to Estella Jennings.
Mr. Honnold operated a meat market in Newton during the early part of the century and later was a United Stats meat inspector stationed in New York until his retirement.
He later moved with his son-in-law and daughter to Bronson, Mich., and then to Union City, Ind.
Mr. Honnold was a member of the Masonic lodge at Portchester, N. Y.
Because of the serious illness of Mrs. Horan, neither she nor her husband will be able to attend services in Iowa.
