Robert C. Hill, 69, of Laurel, died Friday of heart failure at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Marshalltown. Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Laurel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Niel Montz officiating. Burial will be in the Graham Cemetery, Mingo.
Robert Hill was born at Jasper County to Albert and Marie (Graham) Hill. He married Dorothy Smith on Oct. 2, 1949, in Iowa Center. He was raised and educated at Shipley, and graduated from the Shipley High School in 1943. He moved to Marshall County in 1956 and worked at the Maytag Company in Newton as a sheet metal worker. He retired in 1986. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local #997 and the Laurel Senior Citizens.
He is survived by his wife, a son, Roy of Hampton, a daughter, Jean Will of Wichita, Kan., eight grandchildren and a sister, Doris McIntire of Nevada.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
Visitation was Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. at Pursel-Davis Funeral Home, Marshalltown. A memorial fund has been established.
