Le Roy J. Simbro Dies; Services Conducted Today
Monroe – Funeral services for Le Roy James Simbro, 60, of Monroe were held today at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Monroe.
Elder Arthur Nichols, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in Dunreath Cemetery, southwest of Monroe.
Pella Garden Chapel in Monroe handled arrangements.
Survivors are his wife Alice; his father and step-mother, Charles and Genevieve Simbro; his mother, Mrs. Alta Simbro; a stepson, Tony Ray Robison, and three step-grandchildren.
Also surviving are five brothers and sisters: Mrs. Levi (Viola) Deitrick of Monroe, and Burton Simbro of Monroe, Eugene Simbro of Knoxville, Mrs. Charles (Arlene) Hicks of Newton and Raymond Simbro, Des Moines, and six half-brothers and sisters
Mr. Simbro, a longtime Jasper and Poweshiek County area farmer, had been an employee of the City of Monroe. He was a veteran of World War II.
The son of Charles E. and Alta Mae Pendroy Simbro, he was born Feb. 28, 1918 in Marion County.
He was married to Mrs. Alice Blanche Clark Mar. 23, 1973.
He died at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

LeRoy Simbro, 60, died Thursday, Oct. 26, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 30, 2 p.m. at the Re-organized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Monroe. Elder Arthur Nichols officiated at the rites, and interment was in the Dunreath Cemetery in Marion County. The Garden Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Simbro was born in Marion County February 28, 1918, to Charles and Alta Mae Simbro, and was engaged in farming in Jasper and Poweshiek Counties for most of his life. He married Alice Blanche Clark Robison March 23, 1973, and since that time lived in Monroe, where he was employed by the city of Monroe.
Simbro is survived by his wife Alice; his parents and his step-mother, Mrs. Genevieve Simbro; a stepson, Tony Ray Robison, and three step-grandchildren, Michel, Jacqeline, and Tony Ray Robison III.
Also surviving are five brothers and sisters: Viola Ione (Mrs. Levi) Deitrick, and Burton Simbro, both of Monroe; Eugene Simbro of Knoxville; Arlene (Mrs. Charles) Hicks, Newton; and Raymond Simbro, Des Moines.
Six half-brothers and half-sisters surviving Simbro include Betty (Mrs. Noel) Shinn of Knoxville; Ronald Keith Simbro of Pacific, Mo.; Sharon (Mrs. Ray) Wettrling, Cadott, Wisc.; Mary Simbro Paul, and Jimmie Simbro, both of Grinnell; and Charles Dennis Simbro of Baldwin, Wisc. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive him.
Simbro served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Newton.
