Ronald Hannagan Rites Saturday; Dies on Thursday
Newton – Funeral services for Ronald E. Hannagan, 46, of 711 E. 13th St. N., a longtime resident of Newton, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. LeRoy Hannagan, pastor of the Full Gospel Church in Tipton, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.
He died Thursday morning at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Survivors are his wife, Linda; two sons, James and Lloyd, both at home; three daughters, Norella and Lorraine, both of El Paso, Tex., and Beverly of Lufkin, Tex.; his mother, Mrs. William (Lillian Marie) Beggs of Des Moines; his father, James J. Hannagan of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, LeRoy James of Tipton; and a twin sister, Mrs. John G. (Delores) Smith of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Herbert Jack Hannagan, and a daughter, Rebecca, in infancy.
Mr. Hannagan, a veteran of the Korean Conflict, had worked as a tire repairman for several years prior to joining the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department as a special deputy (head jailer). He was a member of the National Sheriffs’ Association.
The son of James J. and Lillian Marie Reynolds Hannagan, he was born May 28, 1935 in Newton and was educated in Newton and Des Moines schools.
He was married to Linda S. Obst July 28, 1969 in Newton.
