Joe C. Gomez Dies on Sunday; Rites Wednesday
Reasnor - Joe C. Gomez, 55, of Reasnor, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Sunday morning at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Wednesday at the Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. Michael Cooper, pastor of the Lynnville Church of God, will conduct services. Burial will be held at the Newton Union Cemetery. Military services will be given by the Newton Veterans of Foreign Post 1655.
Friends may call at the Wallace Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Survivors are a son, Gary of Ellensburg, Wash.; a daughter, Mrs. Conrad (Linda) Loupee of Reasnor; five grandchildren; five brothers, Juan of Dilly, Tex., Lee of Carnation, Wash., Raymond of Knoxville, Robert of Reasnor and Milo of Newton; and two sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Lucille) Dobbs of Newton and Mrs. Richard (Margaret) Baxter of Bedford, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty, June 10, 1981; two sons, Kenneth Lee and Michael Joe; and two brothers, Francis and Roy James.
Mr. Gomez, a farmer, was a Navy veteran of World War II.
The son of Rumaldo “Milo” and Marie Balmer Gomez, he was born Oct. 15, 1926 in Newton.
He was married to Betty Louise Keith Feb. 28, 1950 in Des Moines.
