Colfax – Funeral services for Harold Clarence Holtz, 85, of 1927 W. 84th St. N., Colfax, a longtime resident of Jasper County, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, at the Colfax United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Michael Orthel, pastor of the church, will conduct services.
Eastern Star services will be conducted by Runnells Chapter 518 at the McKeever Cemetery, north of Colfax.
Masonic services by Acanthus Lodge 632 AF and AM of Des Moines will be held at 6 p.m. today at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today and visitation with the family will be held following Masonic services until 8 p.m.
Memorials to the Colfax United Methodist Church will be accepted.
He died Sunday evening at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Survivors are his wife, Amber L.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Sandy of Plano, Ill., and James and Judy of Fairfax, Mo.; a step-son, Charles Lever of Fox Lake, Ill.; a daughter, Jean (Mrs. Billy) Earles of Colfax; a step-daughter, Mary Ellen (Mrs. Dennis) Richardson of Carry, Ill.; nine grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Frances Faye, and two sisters, Mildred Postma and Crystal Beard.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Acanthus Masonic Lodge 632 AF and AM, Eastern Star Chapter 518 of Runnells, Sand Hill Grange and Chain of Lakes Social Club in Grand Island, Fla.
Mr. Holtz had farmed in the Baxter area and was employed by Firestone Co. in Des Moines for 21 years prior to retiring in June, 1973.
The son of Albert C. and Lilly Mae Baker Holtz, he was born June 11, 1908 in Ira and was a 1925 graduate of Baxter Community High School.
He was married to Amber Lennartz March 17, 1976 in Texas.
He also had resided in Des Moines for several years and in Monticello.
