Colfax, Iowa – Henry J. Steenhoek, 83, of Colfax, died Friday, Oct. 16, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Funeral services were held today at the Colfax First Baptist Church with Pastor Phil Butler officiating. Burial was at McKeever Cemetery in Colfax.
Memorials to the First Baptist Church Building fund will be accepted.
The son of John K. and Dena (Witzenberg) Steenhoek, he was born Nov. 3, 1914, in Pella.
He married Ardelia Bensink Aug. 22, 1941, in Pella.
A longtime resident of the Prairie City and Colfax areas, he worked as a farmer. Mr. Steenhoek was a member of the First Baptist Church in Colfax.
Survivors include his wife; three sons and daughters-in-law, Harley and Phyllis of Mingo, Gene H. and Lenis of Prairie City and David H. and Sara of Bixby, Okla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and David Cooper of Colfax; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Reuben Steenhoek of Prairie City and two sisters, Bertha Beyer of New Sharon and Gerdena Dykstra of Columbus Junction.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three brothers and sisters in childhood.
