Alpha R. Cross Dies on Monday; Rites Thursday
Colfax – Mrs. David Harrison (Alpha Radah) Cross, 90, of Colfax died Monday at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Colfax.
Dr. Ralph Meredith, pastor of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Des Moines, will conduct services. Burial will be in the McKeever Cemetery, north of Colfax.
Friends may call at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax after 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Survivors are two sons, Wayne of Sherrill and Delwin of Killduff; two daughters, Mrs. M. L. (Alice) Hutt of Diamond City, Ark., and Mrs. Rex (Betty Jane) Miller of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Flossie Rossiter of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, an infant brother and three foster brothers.
Mrs. Cross was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Colfax and the Poweshiek Township Women’s Club.
The daughter of Commadore and Lizzie Capron Kline, she was born June 10, 1889 in Jasper County.
She was married Jan. 1, 1910 in Baxter.
