Robert Allen Luther, 72, of Mingo died of pneumonia Friday, March 24, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Services were held Tuesday, March 28, at Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax, of which he was a member, with burial at McKeever Cemetery.
Mr. Luther, the son of Clarence and Florence (Jickling) Luther was born in Des Moines, March 24, 1928. He graduated from the Colfax High School in 1946 and attended Iowa State University for a time. He served two years in the Army following World War II as a member of the forces of occupation in Japan.
On May 27, 1956 he was united in marriage to Kathleen Sage at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax. Robert farmed in the Mingo area all his life. He was a member of the Preston Masonic Lodge of Prairie City, Newton Chapter OES, and also Council and Commandary. He also was a member of the Sand Hill Grange and the Howard Street Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial for the Howard Street Christian Church has been suggested by his family.
