VANDALIA -- Bobbie A. Swain, 69, died Thursday, April 1, at his home in Vandalia.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City with the Rev. Lester Swain officiating. Burial will be at the Vandalia Cemetery.

Friends may call Monday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials will be accepted to the Bobbie A. Swain Memorial Fund.

The son of Will and Sarah (Blew) Swain, he was born on Dec. 29, 1934, in Habershann, Tenn. He moved to Vandalia in the late 1960s. On Feb. 14, 1995, he married Margarete Koenig in Knoxville.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry Lynn and Craig Bruxvoort of Mitchelville; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Cheryl Swain of Ankeny; three stepchildren, Cindy and Tina Hinckley of Des Moines and Tom Hinckley of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren; four sisters, Easter, Arlene, Ruby and Mae; and four brothers, Howard, Carl, Ralph and Harvey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Art; and a sister, Dorothy.
