John L. Schrader, 84, of Newton died Sunday, April 18, at his home.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Howard Vrankin of First Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.
Family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials will be accepted to First Lutheran Church or to the Jasper County Senior Citizens and may be left at the funeral home.
The son of William F. and Minnie (Hansen) Schrader, he was born Aug. 6, 1919, in Scotch Grove. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He delivered milk to residential customers for Borden's Dairy and A.E. Dairy in Knoxville. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Teamsters Local 387, VFW and American Legion of Knoxville. He lived in Knoxville from 1945 to 1978, when he moved to Newton.
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Garla and Clyde Brown of Kansas City, Mo., Kathee and Tim Howard of Naperville, Ill., Jona and Rick Roberts of Knoxville and Leslie and Greg Caraballo of Chicago; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Berniece Brunscheen of Mechanicsville and June Mead of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Clarence Schrader, and a sister, Wilma Brady.
