Dorothy Helen Adkins Woods

Private family funeral services for Dorothy Helen Adkins Woods, 75, of 1800 S. 4th Ave. E., a former resident of rural Kellogg, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 5, at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Robert Long, pastor of the Pleasant View United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg. Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Thursday until noon Friday. Memorials to the American Heart Association may be left at the funeral home.

She died Tuesday of complications following abdominal surgery at Skiff Medical Center.

Survivors are her husband, Jay; a sister, Barbara (Mrs. Gene) Tyree of Mesa, Ariz.; two nieces and four nephews; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James L. Adkins.

Mrs. Woods was a homemaker. The daughter of Dr. L. M. and Alma Wells Adkins, she was born June 19, 1916 in Grinnell and was a 1935 graduate of Grinnell High School.

She was married to Jay E. Woods April 2, 1938 in Newton. The couple moved to a farm in rural Kellogg in 1938 and to Newton in 1985.
