Wilson, John A.
Wilson At his residence in Newton, in the morning of the 1st inst,* John A. Wilson, aged 52 years.
Mr. Wilson had been apparently in his usual good health up to the day and hour of his death. He was a man of a very active temperament, and of late had taxed his mental and physical powers to the utmost, scarcely taking time for necessary food and rest, which was doubtless the cause of his sudden decease.
He went to the depot at 11 o’clock, expecting to see Mr. Burns, and failing to see him he got up after one o’clock train had passed, went to the door and on returning to his room hit his forehead on the door. In reply to a question from his wife said he was not hurt.
Shortly after getting into bed his wife noticed that he was breathing heavily, and for help a light was struck, when he was found to be dying and breathed his last within a few minutes. Thus suddenly was closed the life of a man who was the apparent embodiment of health, as he was of indomitable energy and enterprise.
He leaves a wife, and an aged mother who made her home in his family. --Newton Journal; Prairie City News 05 Oct 1877
