Mrs. Belle Wilkins Dies Wednesday; Sunday Services
Mrs. Belle Wilkins, 84, of Grinnell, died Wednesday afternoon at a local hospital where she had been a patient for the past 10 days. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday from the James-Schalinske Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Mount Pleasant cemetery near Newton.
She was the daughter of Philo A. and Sarah Lanphier Whitcomb and was born on Nov. 14, 1878, in Warren County, Iowa. The family moved to Jasper county when she was a small child and she attended the rural schools there and grew to womanhood.
Later, she resided in Poweshiek county and for the past five years had made her home in Grinnell.
On May 24, 1902, she was married to George Frederick Cooper of Grinnell. One daughter was born to this union. Mrs. Phillip (Lila Belle) Krumm of Kellogg. Mr. Cooper preceded her in death. Later, she was married to Edward R. Wilkins of Kellogg and two sons were born to this union, Harvey Edward and Denton Edward, both of Grinnell.
Besides her sons and daughter, Mrs. Wilkins is survived by seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
