John William Weston

This entire community was severely startled last Sunday morning by the report that uncle John Weston was dead - which proved to be too true. He arose Sunday morning as usual, and while sitting in his chair, the Messenger came and called him hence about 7 a.m.

Mr. Weston had been ailing slightly for some time, but nothing was thought of it. It is supposed he died of heart trouble.

Mr. Weston was one the oldest and most highly respected citizens we had in this neighborhood and will be greatly missed, not only by his family, but the entire community.

He leaves a wife and four sons, also a brother and sister to mourn his loss, who have the heartfelt sympathy of everyone in their bereavement.

The interment occurred at Union Chapel cemetery, last Monday at two o'clock. Revs. Boren and Groom, officiating.

John W. Weston was born in Stark county, Ohio, August 20, 1833, and came with his parents to Jasper county in 1856. He was married to Caroline Tramel, Sept 6, 1860. Died Feb 22, 1903, being 69 years, 6 months and 2 days old. ~ Newton Journal, 25 February 1903, under Ira Items
