On Tuesday, August 14, 1877, George Weigle, aged 55 years.

The deceased was born in Germany and came with his parents to this country at the age of 16 years, settling in Ohio, where he lived until he came to this State in 1866, settling on a farm about 4 miles south of this place, where he has lived ever since.

He was a good citizen and an exemplary man. He leaves a widow and a large family of children to mourn his death. ~ Prairie City News, Prairie City, Iowa, 17 Aug 1877
