Henry Keith Warren was born in Hartford, Licking Co., Ohio, Feb. 14, 1829. Here he was married to Sarah Dean on Sept. 11th, 1851, with whom he came to Newton in 1857 where they have made their home ever since, having lived in their present home for thirty-eight years.
Two children were born to them, Mrs. Leonora Lamb now living in Seattle, Washington, and Henry Edward who blessed their lives for only three short years.
Brother Warren joined the Congregational Church in March 1861, and has always been prompt and faithful in his duties as a Christian. As a man among his fellows he was known for his Christian character marked by fidelity and honor in all his dealings. His religion was real, simple and sincere, arising out of an implicit trust in God and obedience to Jesus Christ. After a full and useful life he was called to the joy of his Lord on Wednesday afternoon, June 16th.
Conscious to the last he made all arrangements for his departure, calm in the prospect of the future, requesting his beloved wife to wear no emblem of sorrow but to remember the days of their gladness and the hour of his triumph. Blessed by his memory and sweet be his joys in eternity.
Funeral services were held at the Congregational Church Friday afternoon, June 18, at 5 o’clock, Rev. B. C. Baumgardner officiating. Interment was in Union Cemetery. ~ The Newton Record June 25, 1897
