George Raridon Dies Monday While at WorkGeorge Newell Raridon
George Newell Raridon, 54, a Maytag company plant guard, died Monday afternoon when he was stricken with a heart attack at work.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Robert of Pella, Dale in the Navy, and Duane of Des Moines; one daughter, Mrs. Roy Caldwell, Sacremento; his mother, Mrs. Mary Raridon of Newton; two half-brothers, Earl of Farrar and Roy of Newton; and six grandchildren.
Mr. Raridon was born in Newton, Nov. 13, 1900, the son of Charles and Mary Raridon. He farmed until 1941 when he went to work for the Maytag company.
He left Newton in 1905 and lived in North Dakota and South Dakota for 30 years. He lived in the Newton area for the past 20 years. He married Marjorie Devitt in Oakland, Calif., in 1922.
Funeral services for Mr. Raridon will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Morgan-Loehr funeral home conducted by the Rev. William Johnson of the United Presbyterian church. Burial will be in Newton Union cemetery.
He was a member of the Moose lodge and the NU club.
