Mrs. George L. Poulson Died At Cedar Falls

Poulson, Rachel (Thompson)

Long Time Resident Of This Vicinity; Died After Illness Of Two Weeks.

Mrs. George L. Poulson, 78, died Saturday at her home in Cedar Falls after a final illness of two weeks duration. Mrs. Poulson had a fall in the late fall and her health has gradually failed since then.

Rachel Thompson, the daughter of Alexander and Nancy Thompson was born at Eldora in Hardin County, Iowa, April 15th, 1868. She was married to George Poulson in Colfax fifty-six years ago on February 11th. They spent their early married life in this vicinity and operated what is now known as the F. J. Garwood Farm in Poweshiek Township. They left Colfax in 1910 and have been residents of Cedar Falls, Iowa since 1929. While a Jasper County resident she was an active member of the Poweshiek Women's Club.

Besides the husband and one son Harold, also of Cedar Falls, she is survived by 3 brothers, Jim Thompson of near Colfax, Jess of Los Gatos, California, and Charles of Des Moines, sisters Mrs. Dolly Nienhaus of Beaman and Mrs. Lila Adkins of New Sharon, nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul K. Potter officiating.

Music was provided by Mrs. Earl Plummer, Mrs. George Rinker and John Davis with Eleanor Howell accompanist. Mrs. Harold Ferguson and Mrs. L. H. Burton were in charge of the flowers.

The pall bearers were Claude DeReus, Clifford Emery, Lee Ruggless, Ray DeReus, William Thomas and Ray Thomas.

Interment was in the McKeever Cemetery north of Colfax.
