Death of Mrs. Poorman
Poorman, Effie (Hoopes)Mrs. Effie Hoopes-Poorman, wife of Harry L. Poorman, died this morning at 6:40 a. m., after a short illness.
The deceased was born in Des Moines, October 17, 1862. She was married to Harry L. Poorman January 14, 1881. Two children, Winnie age 16 and Clarence age 12, survive to mourn with the grief stricken husband.
Mr. and Mrs. Poorman moved here from Des Moines in July 1895, and have made a host of friends in this city, who mourn with the family in the untimely death of the wife and mother of the home.
Short funeral services will be held at the house at 12 o’clock, Friday, July 8. The remains will be taken to Des Moines at 1:29 p. m. Final services will be held at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Hoopes at 1521 East Walnut St., on Sunday afternoon, July 10.
Mr. Poorman is Chancellor Commander of the K. P. Lodge here. He and his wife were charter members of the Rathbone Sisters Temple organized here March 8 last and Mrs. Poorman is the first death in this organization.
