Richard W. Paul, 41, of near Newburg died suddenly Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 27) of an apparent heart attack while driving his truck four miles west of Newburg.
The son of Oda and Louisa Woner Paul, he was born Feb. 15, 1932. A few weeks after his birth the family moved to a farm west of Newburg, where he had lived since. He was graduated with the class of 1950 from Newburg High School.
On June 12, 1960, he was married to Kay Hendryx at Newton.
Mr. Paul was active in 4-H work, having been a leader of the Hickory Grove "Ramblers" for a number of years and an honorary member of 4-H. He also was a member of the Jasper County Farm Bureau and the Newburg Congregational Church which he served as a deacon. Mr. and Mrs. Paul were also members of the Couples Club at the church. While active in farming, Mr. Paul also did some trucking for the DeKalb Seed Corn Co.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 1958 and his father in 1960. Survivors include his wife Kay; his daughter, Pamela Kay, whose marriage was to take place in two weeks; and several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Paul will be held at 2 p.m. Friday (Nov. 30) at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Neil Longo, pastor of the Newburg Congregational Church, officiating. Organist will be Mrs. Don Renaud, and pallbearers will be Raymond Brown, Bill Hauersperger, Delmar Sharp, Terry Smith, Don Weaver, and Leon Wilson. Burial will be in the Chester Cemetery.
