Friends Pay Their Loving Tribute
 Sad and Impressive Service

Miller, Grace (Howard)

Mr. A. H. Howard returned from his sad journey, last Sunday morning, bringing with him from Vermillion, S.Dak., the remains of his daughter, Mrs. Grace Miller, accompanied by the sorrow stricken young husband. Sympathizing friends met him at the depot and tenderly carried the body to the home from which she so recently passed out as a happy bride.

The circumstances of the death of Mrs. Millar are peculiarly sad. On the 27th of October, less than two months ago, she was married to Dr. B. A. Miller, and just one month ago she bade farewell to her beautiful home and the ties of a lifetime, and went with her young husband to Vermillion to build up a home for themselves. Their happiness was complete and no cloud had cast its shadow across their threshold, until that of the death angel came to thwart all the bright visions of hope and happiness which they had builded.

Grace was born in Newton on the 28th day of December 1872, and would have been 25 years of age had she lived until the 28th of the present month. Her infancy, youth and young womanhood have all been spent here her life an open book, a beautiful poem, as it were, read and familiar to all.

During her school girl days she was a favorite among her associates; and as shed budded into young womanhood, although naturally reserved, her sweet disposition and lovable manners drew to her the warmest friendship and admiration of a circle of friends which extended as far as her acquaintance reached. In her home she was the center of affection of her father, mother, brother and sisters, and all with whom she was connected by the ties of relationship.

Besides her parents and husband, she leaves two sisters and one brother Mrs. Fanny Galusha and Chas. E. Howard, of Wichita, Kan., and Miss Della at home, all being present at the funeral services, which were held on Monday afternoon.

A large number of friends were present to pay the last sad tribute to one whom they had known and loved from her infancy, and whose death had come as a personal sorrow to every heart. Tears filled every eye that looked upon the still, cold form of the loved one as she lay in her beautiful casket, robed in the dress she had worn on her wedding day, so recently the rich fragrance of the orange blossoms and bridal rose mingling, as it were, with the sweet perfume of the wealth of beautiful flowers which surrounded her casket. Rev. C. V. Cowan, who had officiated at her wedding, had charge of the services, assisted by Rev. B. C. Baumgardner.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Belle Rodgers, Miss Sada Cowgill and Messrs. H. M. Vaughan and Lee Brown the remarks by the pastors and the singing by the choir being appropriate and full of comfort to the sorrowing friends. A large concourse of friends followed the remains to our beautiful cemetery, where they were laid gently to rest until the great resurrection morn.
