Funeral services for Fred Meyer of Carroll, native resident of Newton, were conducted Wednesday morning, Jan. 11, at the S.S. Peter and Paul church in Carroll by Rev. L. Schenkelberg. Interment was in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends from a distance attending the rites were Mr. and Mrs. John Frith and Mrs. George Meyer and son, Vernon of Newton; Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Keough and Mrs. John Sievert of Clarion and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tranter of Ralston.

Mrs. Meyer, who was employed as flagman for the Chicago Great Western Railroad company, died Sunday morning at the St. Anthony hospital in Carroll, following a week's illness.

Fred Meyer, son of John and Louisa Meyer, was born in Newton April 25, 1863, one of a family of 11 children, of whom five survive.

Among those who survive Mr. Meryer are his widow, two children, Mrs. A. H. Manneman of Carroll and Mrs. J. B. Keough of Clarion, one brother, George Meyer of Newton and four sisters, Mrs. Lena Shields of Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Ella Allen, Mrs. John Frith and Mrs. John Larimer, all of Newton.
