A Very Sudden Death

Mendenhall, Grant

The Independent, a newspaper published at Everett, in Washington, brought to Wm. Mendenhall the news of the sudden death of his nephew, Grant Mendenhall, son of his youngest brother Carey Mendenhall, who formerly lived in the vicinity of Kellogg, and was well known in this county a few years ago. Grant was about nineteen years old.

He, with another young man about the same age, had started on Thursday, for the town of Wenatchee on a pleasure trip, without the knowledge of the parents of either. On the following Monday Mr. Mendenhall received a telegram saying that his boy had died that morning of appendicitis. The paper speaks of Grant as a noble young man, beloved by everybody. The sorrow stricken parents have the sympathy of all their old friends and neighbors in Iowa.
