Louis Mays Dies Suddenly At Home in North Newton

Lewis Mays, who has been a resident of this city for a great many years, died Sunday evening at his home in North Newton, the immediate cause of his death being heart failure.

Mr. Mays was one of Newton's pioneer negro citizens, coming to Newton early in the sixties, about the time of the war. He has resided in Newton ever since. His first wife died several years ago, and later Mr. Mays married a second wife, who survives him. He is the father of eleven children, all of whom are living. Three children are at home yet and one son, Marion, is married and resides in this city.

Mr. Mays has been in poor health for several years and of late has suffered a great deal.

The funeral will be held tomorrow.
