MRS. EMMA LA RUE DIED SUDDENLY TUESDAY MORNING
LaRue, Emma (Flanders)

Had Been in Failing Health For Several Years; Funeral Services This Morning Mrs. Emma LaRue, 75, died at 12:30 Tuesday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Hill, with whom she had made her home the past fifteen years. Mrs. LaRue had been in failing health for several years and the past few days was about as usual with the exception of a loss in appetite. The end came suddenly and unexpectedly from a heart attack.

Emma Flanders spent the early part of her life in Illinois and the greater part of her adult life at Mitchellville and Colfax. Her mother died when she was a small child and her father several years ago. She was united in marriage to Charles LaRue and to this union one son Ernest was born. The son died about fifteen years ago and the husband also preceded her in death. She was the last of her family, a brother, Henry preceding her in death about a year ago. Since the death of her son she has made her home with Mrs. Alex Hill, and while the ladies were no blood relation, they were as close as sisters having been raised in the same home.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at nine o'clock at the Immaculate Conception Church with Father McAulisse officiating. Interment will be in the Colfax Cemetery.

Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Emma LaRue

Funeral services were held at 9 o'clock Friday morning at the Immaculate Conception church for Mrs. Emma LaRue, who died June 17th at the Alex Hill home.

Rev. J. McAuliffe, interim priest at the church, officiated with Mary Louise Menke, providing the music.

Pall bearers were George Hill, Paul Hill, James Hill, Harold Maxwell, Harry Gibson and Paul Daily. Interment was in the Colfax Cemetery.

Mrs. Emma LaRue Flanders was born at Waterfleet, Belgium October 12th, 1870. She came to America when a small child and lived in Illinois until she was seventeen when she came to Iowa. The past 59 years she has lived in or near Mitchellville and Colfax, Iowa.

She was married to Charles LaRue in 1904 and the son Ernest born to this union died when he was thirty- four years old. Mr. LaRue died about ten years ago. A brother, Henry Flanders also preceded her in death.

She made her home with her sister Mrs. J. H. Ward in Des Moines until fourteen years ago when she came to reside with Mr. and Mrs. Alex Hill.

Besides Mr. and Mrs. Hill, she is survived by six cousins in Illinois, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Henry Flanders, also of Illinois and many friends.
