Daniel G. “Danny” Retman, 69, of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Newton, Iowa, died Saturday, December 14, 2019, in Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.

A celebration of life will be held beginning at 10:00am on Saturday January 18th, 2020 at the Jasper County Church of Christ (1813 1st St. N, Newton, Iowa). Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.

Danny was born October 28, 1950, in Perry, Iowa, to John and Lucy (Kauzlarich) Retman. He served in the US Marine Corps and was an auto body repairman. He enjoyed being outside feeding the local wildlife, spending time with his cats and mushroom hunting. He spent his time reading novels, researching politics and the news. He was a man of few words who loved his family.

He is survived by three cats, two daughters, Jennifer Meador and her husband Randy of Davenport, and Michelle Retman of Crofton, Maryland; three grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and sisters, Diana Retman Douglas of Bouton, Iowa, Francis Comer of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Patricia Mentzer of Des Moines, Iowa.
