Conrad Kracht Passes Away

Conrad Kracht, on of the most highly respected German farmers of this county, died at his home about five miles northwest of Newton, last Friday night. His death caused by tumor from which he had been a great sufferer for many months. He was born in Lippe Detmolt, Germany, in 1855 ­ his age being 42 years, 7 months and 5 days at the time of his death. He came from Germany to the United States in 1880 and settled in Jasper County. He was married to Miss Lena Braun in 1887, and to them were born one son and one daughter.

Funeral services were held at the home on Sunday morning at 10 o’clock, the pastor of the German M. E. Church of this city officiating, with a large number of friends in attendance. The interment was in the Newton Cemetery.
